Just a quick post between the food and bustle of Thanksgiving weekend!

This is the first turtleneck I have worn since I was little, when my daily uniform was coordinated leggings and turtlenecks. I used to find them constricting, like they were choking me, but I am glad I decided to give them another shot.  I do feel a little naked without a giant necklace though..

When Ross reached out to us to do a collaboration to build looks around our favorite Bay Area activity, we immediately agreed.  We thought it would be a fun challenge to create looks on a budget.  We've never addressed this before, but we are quite careful when it comes to spending--most of the clothing on this blog come from sales, thrifting, and our closet (recycling pieces over and over again is ok in our book!).  Only during special occasions do we ever splurge.  We wanted to show how style and even quality do not need to be compromised with a limited budget.  These head to toe looks were created with about $100 each, and are perfect for our favorite weekend activity - going out to brunch!

I think I've hit the jackpot.  I saw this coat hanging on the wall of a Crossroads, and impulsively exchanged all trade credits for it...a decision that I don't regret.  It was a steal for Rachel Comey and I plan on wearing it every chance that I get.  OK, it's a little big, but nothing rolling up the sleeves and wearing a pair of tall booties can't fix, though I'm wearing sneakers above.  My point is, I'm really excited!!

Living in the Bay Area, we do a lot of walking..so it's not always practical to be running around in stilettos. Our go-to shoes lately are chunky-heeled booties. Sturdy enough to traverse hills and cobblestones, all while still adding height. We have been lusting after these pairs; we are suckers for unique details (those spots!).

Surprise, surprise!  I'm in a sweater-blouse-denim combo again now that it's getting colder in the city.  I can always count on this formula when I'm in a rush.  It's easy and there are endless possibilities in color and texture that never bore me.  This time I worked around a fuzzy mohair sweater that I picked up with Mal.  She generously shared her MAX&Co contest win with me.  Oh oops, just one of the benefits of having a blogging buddy ;)

Whit and I have been on the hunt for fuzzy sweaters, so I was happy to find this one at Forever for $24 (much more reasonable than the $70 Asos one I wanted). It is so fuzzy I feel like a stuffed animal!

We usually do not think of ourselves as overly girly (despite Mal's particular affinity for all things sequin/rhinestone), so we like to balance feminine pieces with more practical ones.  When we wear minis, we pair them with tees or sweatshirts.
