Working at a biotech company, dressing casually is the norm. I'm lucky enough that I can wear any casual getup I want so long as 1) I'm not in PJs and 2) I'm wearing long pants with close toed shoes. I always did have a small desire to have to dress up for work though. This white poplin shirt would be the perfect staple piece. The material is comfortable and opaque enough that it is appropriate for more formal situations, or for more casual situations with the sleeves rolled up.

That top is definitely great! But I'm in love with the shorts! So perfect! :D I never had to dress formally when I was in an office either. The first was just a small company and the second was a fashion place so I could wear whatever. and now I work in my pjs, ha ha

The agency at which I recently interned was also similar with its dress code -- but it didn't even require long pants/closed-toe shoes, which made it really easy for me. But I agree, constructing the perfect professional piece has its own appeal. It can get boring easily, but with an innovative eye, it can be pretty fabulous each time :)
