Fall Finds with SFGoodwill

This post was sponsored by Goodwill. All opinions are our own.

On Whit: Oak + Fort Grid Print Shift Dress via Goodwill (West Portal Location)
On Mal: Self Portrait Asymmetrical Top via Goodwill (West Portal Location, designer section)

Those who have been following us for a long time will remember the days when we would wear outfits that were exclusively thrifted. The thrill of finding something and figuring out how to make it work has always been a fun challenge.

Now that we are older, we don't have the time to go sifting through the racks at giant shops like Thrift Town (RIP), which is why it is nice to have Goodwill boutiques in San Francisco. With a more curated selection (including some designer stuff), it is actually easy to find can't-believe-this-is-here pieces.

Case in point -- this dress from Oak + Fort literally still had tags on it in the Goodwill store....so for $20 this was a huge steal. Also THE Self Portrait top. Bless the SF lady who decided to give this up to Goodwill...we still can't believe we found it! Other finds included matching cashmere tops for $20 (stay tuned, they will probably show up in our feed soon), and a button silk top (also still with tags). We also found some great Zara, Madewell and J.Crew stuff for super cheap.

When we posted our finds on our insta stories, someone immediately responded with "I feel like I never find anything!" and if you feel that way, we say check out Goodwill in SF (especially the West Portal location) because you will be surprised!

Rooftop Views

On Whit: Madewell polka dot tank via Nordstrom Rack, Levi's ribcage straight ankle jeans via outlets ($40!), Arno Cooperative star mules, San Diego Hat Company hat

On Mal: Lucky Brand Bridgette Crop Jean (size down), Anthropologie Camisole (old), All Saints Balfern Leather jacket (color sold out, Suede version here), Marc Fisher boots (old, similar below)

If you haven't already noticed our obsession with wide leg denim recently, here are a couple more styles that we've found to be flattering. The Levi's ribicage fit is super high waisted without looking too mom jean-like and Whit looks taller! The non stretchy material and raw hem gives it a more vintage look. But if you go for a more stretchy fit, Lucky has some cute styles on sale, like the pair Mal is wearing (size down, Mal's pair has stretched out a little too much).

Dressed up Denim at Hall Wines

A couple weeks ago, we got invited by Hall Wines to celebrate the launch of their new brand, BACA zinfandel. We are never ones to turn down the chance to eat and drink, but having been to Hall before on our own, we knew we def wanted to go back. Gotta love that light saber bunny. And we actually liked all the wines we tried (but Cat's Cradle is the best).

We also used the event as an excuse to celebrate our new jobs! We have both been busy getting up to speed in our new roles (Whit is now a software engineer, and I'm now a product designer) so haven't had as much time to hang out, or blog for that matter.  We are hoping to fix that soon, though! We also post much more often on Insta and on Insta stories if you are ever curious what we are up to.

#PutaScarfOnIt with Centinelle

On Mal: c/o Centinelle Acapulco on the Roof Bandana, H&M Oversized Sweatshirt and Eye Drop Earrings (old),  Levi's 721 SkinniesAkira Bow On Me Satin Flats, Gucci GG Marmont Mini Box Bag

On Whit: c/o Circus For Tigers Silk Medium Square Scarf,  c/o Margaret O'Leary Lattice Stitch Pullover (old), Cole Haan Oxfords, Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag

Those of you who follow us on Instagram, you might have seen that my (Mal's) apartment was burglarized. They stole my bags (including the one shown here), some sunglasses, jewelry, and electronics. They stole the Nintendo Switch when I was almost done with Zelda! I never really considered someone stealing stuff from my wardrobe...I guess the thieves had good taste. Sigh.

Mostly it's shocking to know someone was in my home.  I'm not proud of how upset I was over losing some bags. If you follow this blog, you know we don't take buying 'investment' pieces like a ChloĆ© bag lightly. I consider every purchase I make seriously, and to have someone take away everything at once made me really sad. Even more so that every single one is sold out. But, as Whitney reminded me, things can be replaced (at least eventually), and I am glad we weren't home/didn't come home during the burglary.

I also am trying to remember that I don't know why this person (or persons), decided to turn to burglary. Might be a couple of thrill-seeking teenagers, or could be someone who really needs the money. Either way, I am sure they assumed that whatever they took I could afford to replace.  Losing some bags and accessories is really a #firstworldproblem, and I am just glad we are safe.

Legion

On Mal: H&M Camel Coat (old, similar below), Ann Taylor Wide Leg Crop Pants (old), ChloƩ Mini Faye Bracelet Bag, Karen Walker Moon Disco Octagonal Sunglasses, INPINK Saturn Earrings

We felt fancier than usual in this checked coat and these flowy culottes.  We were a bit overdressed for a casual lunch at The House of Pancakes.  Luckily these outfits were pretty forgiving (food-baby wise) because we pigged out on hand-pulled noodles,  green onion pancakes and dumplings.

On Sunday we took a quick day trip to St. Helena c/o of Maven.  Maven is GM's new carshare app, which just launched in San Francisco.  There are pickups around the city (mostly near downtown), and once you download the free app and sign up, you can find a car and reserve it by the half-hour...there is no membership fee. We were surprised how cheap it is, without the membership, it actually makes it less than Zipcar.

We reserved a Cadillac for the day, and simply picked it up at the garage using the app to unlock the car.  On the way to St. Helena (about an hour and a half trip), we were thankful for the free 4g...although we had to call to get the network password.

After getting a bit of a late start, we went straight to lunch as soon as we got into town.  We had made a reservation at Farmstead, but after arriving a bit early we ended up just taking an available table on the patio. If you are ever in the area, go here. It is super tasty without the usual hefty wine-country price tag.  We suggest the cheddar biscuits (free if you check in on Yelp) and the Mac and Cheese!

After lunch we went tasting at some of the wineries. Between four of us, we split a couple of tastings (nice they let you do that). We took the day nice and slow, partially because we were full, and partially because none of us are big wine-drinkers.  Plus, Mal was DD, so was only taking a sip of each pour. We visited Hall Wines (love that Bunny Foo Foo statue), Opus One (they only make one wine a year, so a tasting is a full pour), and checked out the architecture but didn't taste at Del Dotto.

We wrapped up the day at Goose and Gander. This spot is super cute and cozy.  After being full all day, we decided to forgo traditional entrees. We had to try the duck fat fries, which is what drew us here to the first place, but these ended up not actually being our favorite part.  The octopus was so well done (and we usually don't like that texture) and beef tartar toast were both our surprise favorites.

It was a fun day, and it was so easy to drop off the car again.  Once we parked the car in the tiny garage spot (the most difficult part of the day), we simply marked our trip finished on the app!

#BTS with The Great Mall

On Whit: A'Gaci Sincere Off Shoulder Top (color no longer available online) $18.90, Banana Republic Leggings (not available online) $9.99, Zara Sandals (old, similar below) $29.99.
TOTAL = $58.88

On Mal: A'Gaci Stripe Poplin Shift Dress $29.90, Forever 21 Choker $3.90, H&M Espadrilles $14.99.
TOTAL = $48.79

We are no longer in school, but we still remember that back-to-school shopping excitement.  When the Great Mall offered $100 to complete an outfit, we were slightly skeptical.  Little did we know, we would manage...and then some!  Everything had sales. Here's how our $100 broke down:

Whitney:
A'Gaci Sincere Off Shoulder Top $18.90
  J. Crew Factory Striped Lace-Up Espadrilles (also in ikat)not pictured (extra 60% off in store) $7.99
Banana Republic Distressed Denim Leggings, White (extra 50% off in store) $9.99
Banana Republic Denim Leggings, Dark Wash not pictured (extra 50% off in store) $11.99
Guess Off-The-Shoulder Top not pictured (Extra 30% off in store) $20.99

Total: $69.86

Mallory:
A'Gaci Stripe Poplin Shift Dress $29.90
  H&M Espadrilles $14.99
  Forever 21 Choker $3.90
  A'Gaci BodySuit not pictured $17.90
Forever 21 Crochet top not pictured $29.99

Total: $96.98

You might notice we both gravitated towards off-the-shoulder.  We are 90s babies, so this trend (and the choker revival) are welcome news to us!

After shopping in a mall for the first time in a long time, we understand the meaning of 'shop-till-you-drop.' The mall is organized as a giant circle, so it is basically like running laps, right?

The mall has some notable stores we love: H&M, Forever 21 (a huge one that is slightly overwhelming), J. Crew, Saks Off Fifth, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Coach Factory, UNIQLO and Columbia . There's also a Dave and Busters! We were too exhausted after shopping, but can't wait to go back and get in some arcade time :D

Last Sunday we spent the day together playing board games and eating and somehow fitting in some photos as well.  It was so cold, Whit was wearing two coats.  By cold we mean 50 degrees...but with wind chill! People who live in the snow probably think we Bay Area folk are a bunch of wimps.

We played King of New York, which was cute with all the different monsters.  Also you get to roll 6 die at once which is fun just on its own.  We also played Sheriff of Nottingham during which you lie to and bribe all your friends (Whit hates that one).  We are always on the hunt for new board games to play, so if anyone has any ideas, we are all ears :3.
