Christmas Cruella

When I was little I had this furry black and white hat that my family called my 'Cruella De Ville' hat.  Now, years later, here I am wearing this cocoon coat.  I found it in store on sale for less than $40 (and there is currently an additional 50% off sale online right now).  When I brought it up to the counter to purchase, I was wearing my other ridiculous furry coat, and the checkout woman was totally unsurprised by my purchase.

P.s. Size down in this coat...it is designed oversized so it runs large!

Last Sunday we spent the day together playing board games and eating and somehow fitting in some photos as well.  It was so cold, Whit was wearing two coats.  By cold we mean 50 degrees...but with wind chill! People who live in the snow probably think we Bay Area folk are a bunch of wimps.

We played King of New York, which was cute with all the different monsters.  Also you get to roll 6 die at once which is fun just on its own.  We also played Sheriff of Nottingham during which you lie to and bribe all your friends (Whit hates that one).  We are always on the hunt for new board games to play, so if anyone has any ideas, we are all ears :3.

Pajameralls - Pop Preppy with Old Navy

How to Style a Jumpsuit

On Mal: c/o Old Navy Plaid Drawstring Jumpsuit, Zara Leather Jacket (old, similar here), c/o Juliet & co Taylor Necklace (sold out, love this one here!), c/o Public Desire Lace-up Karis flats

Photos by Rene

This jumpsuit might be the most comfortable item in my closet right now. I wore this over Thanksgiving and my mom was convinced I was in pajamas -___-.  At least my sisters mentioned that it made me look taller, which is a bit of a miracle - I am only 5'3 and this jumpsuit fits perfectly! I suspect it is supposed to fit at a cropped length, but it works as regular length on me.

This time around I paired it with a leather jacket and a statement necklace to dress it up.  Nobody asked me this time if I was wearing PJs!

Thanksgiving + Gift Giving with Uncommon Goods

Photos by Annie Hall

My brother's girlfriend Annie was shooting some pregnancy photos for my sisters (both are due around Valentine's Day!), so I decided to be an opportunist and get in some outfit photos.
Annie just purchased an amazing new lens and I really love how these turned out.  She also gave a lot of direction, which was a lot more helpful than Ty's directions: "Cross your legs over when you step, but go straight." How????

Let me tell you a funny story about this necklace.  I picked it out solely on the design (I am a big fan of art-deco style jewelry) and of course read nothing of the description.  When it arrived it had instructions on how to open and close it, and I was super confused.  I thought it actually functioned as portable tweezers or something haha. I was wrong...check out the description here.  Makes sense, considering the name :p

While your there, make sure to check out the whole site.  Uncommon Goods is a great place to find unique gifts (it is probably a major source for all those 'GIFT GUIDES FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE TO SHOP FOR' and '10 CLEVER PRODUCTS YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU NEEDED' lists that are always popping up on Buzzfeed.  I especially like that they have bios on the artists for the handmade pieces...makes each piece feel more special. Plus, you can Black Friday shop sans guilt, because even their seasonal workers make 50% above minimum wage.  As a former retail employee, I am definitely on board with that.

P.S. Sisters, I am getting this for you babies. Baby burritos!

Berkeley Rose Garden with BB Dakota

On Whit:  c/o BB Dakota Giselle Sweater, Illesteva Boca (similar), Topshop Pineapple Shorts and Lace-up Flats (similar)

Photos by Jen Christo

After complaining about waiting for fall, we are quick to miss the sun we had when we shot these photos.  The weather was so perfect there were two other groups taking photos.

We have been digging BB Dakota lately, so we were beyond excited when they sent us some of their new Fall pieces.  Mal doesn't normally gravitate towards trapeze dresses, but the bow in the back made this one special...feels a bit 1960s French or something. Oh, and of course in the same day as these photos, Whit managed to snag her sweater (typical).  Luckily, Mal had a snag nab-it handy!
