Frayed Fall Sweater

san francisco style blogger wearing margaret o'leary fall sweater

On Whit: c/o Margaret O'Leary Maeve Pullover  (in mushroom), Banana Republic factory skinnies, Chloe Mini Kurtis, Adidas NMDs in Talc

I was waiting for temps to be cooler this week to style this new sweater.  The boho frayed details are on point. Like all of Margaret O'Leary's pieces,  the quality is exceptional.  Her sweaters are so soft, I may be addicted..

..which is a dangerous, because like Mal, I also have no income at the moment.  If you've been following, we're both going through huge career changes.  She's doing a product design program and I'm halfway through a full-time software engineering program.  It's a frightening, but exciting time because we have support from friends and from each other. At the end of this,  we'll come out a software engineer and a product designer --the ultimate dream team! We're already thinking about what we can build together..

Fur(la)

On Mallory: c/o Furla Mini Metropolis, Banana Republic Faux Fur Scarf,  H&M Trumpet Sleeve Blouse and Distressed Jeans (old), Seychelles Marquee Boots

Our old college roomie East was here over Thanksgiving, and we all went out shopping in downtown.  I had seen this scarf previously and was in love with the color, but was even more excited that it actually came in 4 colors! I made Whit and East try them on and we each ended up getting a different color.  Looking forward to forcing our fourth college roomie to get that last color the next time we see her.

I wanted to issue a small correction to Whit's post about Furla...you can get the Metropolis bag with interchangable flaps and bodies, but you have to buy the special pieces individually!  The ones we are wearing are sewn together, and cannot swap out!

Layered Grays

Photos by Ty

Snapped these photos quickly over Thanksgiving.  Peanut was super distracted by all our neighbors and refused to look at the camera. Corgis are so nosy.

Like I said on instagram, my Mom immediately made fun of my glasses when I put them on.  She giggled because they are so big...but I have to say they are smaller than the ones she used to sport in the 80s! I will admit that I look a little high-maintenance, but when I saw them on sale + extra percent off, I couldn't resist.  If you ever want to get sale alerts for stuff we link, you can visit our shopstyle page here and set them up!

Grommets and Lacing

I usually shy away from skirts that hit below the knee, but when I saw this on super-sale at Anthro, I decided there was no harm in trying it on.  It was the last one in store, and it was in petite so it felt like it was meant to be.  I think that the side slit also prevents it from being too stumpifying.

On a side note, FYI sometimes the product widgets where we link what we are wearing (like the one below) say items are sold out even though they are in-stock. For instance, the H&M shirt and the Bite Lip Crayons are still in stock in case you wanted to snap them up :).

Ruffled Lace

black and red lace outfit

Photos by Ty

While I did not do anything special this year for Halloween, I do love everything spoopy (the pumpkin dance will never not be funny).  So, to be festive, I thought this black lace top would be witch-y. At dinner, my Dad asked if I was taking up Flamenco dancing. I was going more for the old-ladies-in-the-2015-Dolce-and-Gabbana-Ad-Look, but I'll also accept flamenco dancer.

As a side note, my favorite Public Desire Karis Flats (worn here and here and a million other posts) have finally been worn to death, so I was excited to find this pair in-store at H&M for only $15.  Black lace up flats are so versatile and I cannot imagine going back to plain flats after wearing my old pair with everything.

INSPO // Velvet

Embrace texture with rich velvet in muted neutrals and jewel tones.  A little bit of velvet goes a long way to bringing warmth to any ensemble.  Even a summery striped dress (as seen above) can be brought into fall with the addition of a mini velvet crossbody.

Autumn Nights

As the weather cools down, we layer up.  I fell in love with the neckline on this Margaret O'Leary sweater - mock neck and with a zipper?   I also adore the waffle knit...a waffle knit just feels so much cozier than a regular knit somehow.

Gray Days

I have been trying to wear cozy knits for weeks, but finally it actually makes sense, temperature-wise. I nabbed this knit in-store last week and was smitten.  I had seen it online but noticed it was only available in medium. Being short, I was worried about the fit, but in-store they only had mediums anyway.  Luckily, I like it slouchy.

I wanted to pair it with a stretchy midi-skirt, which I don't own, so I faked it with a dress and a belt underneath to tuck in the sweater.

INSPO // Statement Boots

Click image to go to source.

We are loving all the statement boots we have been seeing...say yes to velvet and embroidery!! That being said, we have a huge problem with this whole 'shoes on the bed thing.' We are going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume all of these shoes are brand new and/or these sheets are for the sole purpose of photos and not for sleeping. We are a bit germaphobic FYI.

Shop our picks below (including those embroidered boots from the top!!)

Gone Rogue

Photos by Ty
Mediocre editing by Mal

Cannot even describe how excited I was when Coach reached out to promote the Coach Rogue.  The first ~luxury~ item I ever bought myself was a tiny Coach baguette bag with the money I made from babysitting/tutoring.  I bought it from the outlet and it was $100 (:0).

Since the early 2000s, Coach's style (and my own) has evolved.  Their latest line of Coach 1941 bags brings together classic Coach quality with modern details.  Case in point: the contrasting lining of the Rogue.  It's a fun, unexpected pop of color which makes the bag all that more special.

Shopping Guide // Circle Bags

In case you somehow missed it, Mal is obsessed with her Chloe Mini Faye Bracelet Bag (see here, here, here and here!).  Metal ring embellishments  add a modern, geometric edge to a handbag...and we can't help noticing they have been popping up everywhere!

INSPO // Sweater Coats

After a weird heat wave last week, we are getting some cloudy skies and light sprinkles here in the bay area. We are currently cozied up in chunky knits and crawling Pinterest for the coziest apparel possible - sweater coats.

INSPO // Transitional Trench

Click image to go to source.

As much as we are loathe to admit it, Fall is almost here.  Not that we do not love layering up, but its hard not to miss the warm sun and the late sunsets.  Luckily for us, the weather has started warming up again so we aren't pulling out our big coats just yet.  Enter the lightweight trench.  Unfortunately, neither of us currently own one, so we will be on the hunt!
