Lampshade

on Mal: Forever 21 Contemporary Fringe Dress, J. Crew Sandals (sold out in gold but available in hologram!), Delfonics Pouch, Karen Walker Harvest Sunglasses, Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bella c/o Birchbox

If you couldn't already tell by these two posts, I love fringe. It has great movement and feels so airy.  That being said, this fringe is made of loops that literally got caught on everything.  Every. Single. Cabinet. Knob.

On another note, let's talk about this lipstick! It sets really quickly and feels more like a stain then a lipstick...a big plus for hot summer days. The description on Birchbox states, ' Take care when you apply because once it sets, it'’s not budging!' and they are not kidding. If you mess up, it is a pain because the name of this product is truly accurate.

Comme Des Garçons Play

When I went to Japan, I found this top in blue for $75 (it is $155 in the US). I skipped on the blue, as I prefer black and white stripes (and also it was the wrong size).  Lucky for me, my boyfriend Royce travelled to Japan a short time after and was nice enough to hunt down the black and white one for me!

For me, $75 is steep for a t-shirt.  However, as I get older, I have learned to replace items I wear all the time with better-quality versions.  Anyone who knows me has seen that I wear stripes almost every day, so I am sure I will get my money's worth!

5 Things to Know Before You Cut Your Hair Short

With summer coming around, it's about time people consider chopping off long locks for breezy bobs or lobs, I thought I would compile a list of things I have learned since I have had short hair!

1. Do your research.
This might seem like a no-brainer, but do your research on styles and on salons.  Find someone who often cuts short hair and is familiar with your hair type and texture.  If you're cutting off all your length, you need to make sure you trust your stylist!  Also, bring in different photos of haircuts you like. Find a couple of different options, and ask your stylist for his/her professional opinion.  The cut you like on Pinterest might not work for your hair type or face shape, so bringing in a couple of styles is key!

2. You have to keep your hair appointments.
When my hair was long, it was easy to just go a while without getting a trim...it basically always looked the same anyway. Short styles, on the other hand, grow out quickly and can turn into heavy unflattering triangles.  Additionally, you have a lot less to work with and you don't want your split ends to get out of control, so make and keep your appointments!

3. Short hair is not easier.
Short hair might look easy-breezy, but it is not less work than long hair. With short hair, you can't just throw it up when you have a bad hair day.  Even putting it in a pony (depending on how short you go) takes minutes of strategic bobby-pinning.

4.  Skip the heat once in while.
As stated in point 2, you have less length to handle breakage, so try to go without heat styling as often you can. I try to only use the curling iron to fix the random pieces that are out of place. I also try to only wash my hair every other day, to keep it from drying out.  Dry Bar Detox Dry Shampoo is my go-to for my second day hair!

5. Invest in a smaller curling iron.
The shorter the hair, the smaller your curling iron should be.  2 inch and 1.5 inch irons are great for long layers, but on short hair, you won't even be able to wrap your hair around it.  My cheap thrill is this ConAir Spiral, its only $16!

If you are considering cutting your hair short, I wish you the best! I would encourage everyone to go short at least once, it's just hair and will always grow back.

Hello, it's been a while!  My current obsession is this Joli Rouge Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick by Clarins.  I usually don't feel comfortable putting on lipstick because I find lipstick too heavy and pigmented.  With this one, however,my lips are still very moisturized and I get just the right amount of color that I need without looking over-the-top.
