INSPO // Unexpected Layers

We are experiencing another wave of rain and cold, so we haven't yet broken out our flimsier wardrobe.  Until then, we are getting some ideas about how to layer them for colder weather (kind of like how Whit wore her Oak + Fort Lace Tank here).

We especially dig the crisp white shirt as a first layer.  It adds some structure to a draped top or crepe dress, and can somehow make a cropped tube top seem almost work-appropriate. We are a bit embarrassed to say that we have yet to find that one perfect button up, but we are on the hunt.  Any suggestions are always appreciated!

Lace-up tops have been everywhere for a while now, so it is refreshing to see a fresh take.  Thick lacing gives a more utilitarian feel that is completely different from the gauzy lace-up shirts from last season.

As the weather is heating up, we can more realistically think about wearing lace tops and dresses sans coats or sweaters. Love how each of these looks above are 'non-traditional' lace or crochet...with geometric cutouts and puffed sleeves. Click the images to go to the source!

The 90s are back, people.  I just watched that episode of Friends where Rachel's Dad doesn't like Ross and calls him 'Wethead' and Rachel is wearing a sleeveless turtleneck and looks surprisingly current.  Or more accurately, we all look surprisingly 90s.  Click the photos to go to the image source!
