Hey all, we're alive! There has been a long radio silence on the blog as Whit and I job hunt. I finished my client projects about 2 weeks ago and after pulling together my portfolio. This week, I am OFFICIALLY starting to look for a full-time product design position!

We are trying to get back into the swing of updating regularly, at the very least over on Instagram!

Bolinas Beach House

Photos by Rene

Just got back from spending the weekend at a friend's beach house in Bolinas.  Driving in was a little bit of a nightmare in a couple ways:
1. I get nauseous as a passenger on windy roads
2. The fog over the hill made it feel like we were driving into a horror movie murder house (I actually really like scary movies).

It was pretty foggy and cold this morning too, but the sun actually came out around 2 so I got to enjoy some nice sun and a light hat-blowing breeze.

Bolinas is such a funny town.  It is really small, and pretty isolated....gas was going for $4.65.  Being so small, everyone says hello when passing by down to the beach.  There is a used, un-manned bookstore that operates on the honor system (with a pricing suggestion guide) and the downtown area looks like a slice of Americana...think whitewashed 'general store' type buildings.

If Stinson is too crowded for you, Bolinas is a more low-key alternative.  You should note, however, that the sand is not as soft!

Berkeley Rose Garden with BB Dakota

On Whit:  c/o BB Dakota Giselle Sweater, Illesteva Boca (similar), Topshop Pineapple Shorts and Lace-up Flats (similar)

Photos by Jen Christo

After complaining about waiting for fall, we are quick to miss the sun we had when we shot these photos.  The weather was so perfect there were two other groups taking photos.

We have been digging BB Dakota lately, so we were beyond excited when they sent us some of their new Fall pieces.  Mal doesn't normally gravitate towards trapeze dresses, but the bow in the back made this one special...feels a bit 1960s French or something. Oh, and of course in the same day as these photos, Whit managed to snag her sweater (typical).  Luckily, Mal had a snag nab-it handy!

Guess where I took these photos...behind a Chevy's.

Probably the nicest 'behind a Chevy's' that I am aware of. It's a very secluded spot to take photos by the water (which you actually can't really see in these photos because of the lighting), as long as you don't mind the Chevy's patrons staring at you from the window.

Let's talk about the long struggle to get this shirt.  I had pinned this shirt a while back from the Forever website when it was sold out.  I added myself to the waitlist (twice) because every time I got a 'back in stock' notification, it was already sold out by the time I got online...once within 10 minutes after getting the email.  Then it completely disappeared from the website.  So, I did a search on Amazon to see if I could find a similar top.  I found this one here.  I did not, however, realize that it was shipping from China because I am dumb and didn't look at the shipping times on the seller page.  SO after a long wait I did get the shirt and it is pretty much the same quality as I would have expected from Forever 21 (maybe it even came from the same factory??), but the wait time was less than ideal.  I linked the Forever one up top because as soon as I ordered from Amazon it magically reappeared. Of course.

Vested Interest

Photos by Rene

My mom is probably shaking her head at my midriff right now (sorry, Mom).

Normally I don't go for full-price items at Anthro, but this vest is so worth it...especially considering it was a bday gift from my BF!  I love the fall color, and it is still lightweight enough to wear in the current heat. It is the perfect transitional piece.  I think it will be pretty versatile; it would look cute over a (striped) dress and I plan on wearing it with long sleeved tops once it gets colder.

P.s. Sorry for the post hiatus but I have been having wifi issues that I will refrain ranting about here.
