Bite Lip Pencil Review

Bite Lip Pencil 044 Review, Bite Lip Pencil Swatch, Bite Whiskey
Influenster sent over the new Bite Lip Pencils for us to try out, and after the last success with the Bite Matte Lip Crayon, we were excited to try these next.

First things first, I was super excited about the colors when I opened the package because I loved the color on the promotional photo.  So I was a bit disappointed to find the color was not actually included in the package (and was not identified...help me out with that shade, Bite!).  Unless she actually filled her lips only with the pencil?? Unclear. Maybe it just looks way darker on me...

Onwards with the review...these are traditional-style lip pencils, which require a sharpener.  I found the pencil very easy to use to line my lips; with its smooth texture, a single stroke would actually apply enough color and it did not 'skip' or leave spaces.  I have generally been using NYX pencils (I love their color options), but I find the formula of Bite to be smoother and easier to apply.

I usually only line my lips when I am doing an intense color, like the dark lip shown below, as those colors are unforgiving if your application isn't perfect.

I felt a little gothic in these colors, which are almost black.

For a more natural lip, I would probably skip the liner if I was planning to wear a lipstick.  However, for a 'natural-ish' lip, I sometimes will skip the lipstick and use the pencil to fill in all my lips.  The consistency of this pencil is smooth enough to apply over your whole lip. I find this method to have better lasting color than a lipstick (it doesn't slide around your lips), although you should have very moisturized lips in order to wear it that way, as the result is very matte.

I feel like the neutral color options actually look a bit better in the photo than in real life.  If you are medium-light skin tone like I am, you might find these colors a bit too pale for your skin.  IRL there was not a lot of contrast between my skin and lips in these colors.

Here is my total breakdown:

PROS:
Texture
Smooth application
Staying power (I recently wore 044 with a NYX Lip Lingerie on top for a GNO and the color lasted pretty much all night!)

CONS:
none??
I do wish that they would name the lipliners to match the lipsticks...the color they sent came pre-matched, but in general I would find that helpful! Obviously the color of your pencil and lipstick don't have to be matched exactly, but still.
