Put a Bow on It

On Mal: c/o Belted Shawl-Collar Blazer • $168, Forever 21 Statement Necklace (not online, but purchased recently in-store), Comme Des Garcons Play Striped Long Sleeve Tee, J. Crew Lookout Skinny Jeans, c/o Public Desire Karis Flats (also similar below), Chloe Mini Faye

Shot with A7s with a helios 44-2 (love how vintage-y it looks)

I originally got this blazer in white, but it felt too karate-kid for me, so I swapped it for the black.  I like this blazer because it feels like it can be dressed up or down.  I don't have to dress up for work, but I do value versatility, and this works perfectly for day or for dinner.

Plus, I definitely feel more grown-up wearing it...my boyfriend said I looked 'bossy' lol.

[basic]

On Mal: Zara Leather Jacket (similar), H&M Striped tee and sneakers (old), J. Crew Lookout Skinnies, Pour la Victoire Crossbody

Rene snapped these for me after work, so this outfit is a pretty good representation of my everyday.  My office is very casual, which is great because jeans are my go-to.  Flats and sneakers are also essential, as I usually BART home after work and commuting in heels is no fun.

Some days I do wish I had a more formal office, as I think workwear can be fun...but then I imagine a life where I have to go to the dry cleaner all the time.

Summer

On Mal: H&M striped top (similar), Forever 21 lace trim shorts and jewelry, vintage leather hat via Crossroads (similar), Timex Dress ChronographThis Indiana Jones-y hat is one of the best things I have found at Crossroads so far (besides my green Longchamp). Now I am 1/5th on my way to a halloween costume!

Stuck in Stripes

On Mal: H&M striped top (on sale in store for $10...they are having a big sale right now), Thrifted foldover skirt and leopard belt, hand me down Louis Vuitton bag, Zara Basic flats (similar)

I want to start off by saying I swear I have other shoes...but these just go with everything so I have been wearing them to death.  I should have bought two pairs.

Same goes with stripes, I have been wearing them nonstop. As I mentioned last post, when I was shopping I only gravitated towards black and white stripes, not even realizing until I hit the dressing room.  I am a strong believer that if you really like something, you should buy multiples. Which is why I bought two of this striped top. And why I have two of my short sleeved striped top. And two pairs of the same sandals.

Show your stripes

(click on the photos to go to source)

Stripes add instant style in our opinion. A simple outfit, like jeans and a tee, suddenly become uber chic when that tee has stripes.  Mal recently went shopping and realized she was trying on three striped tops (and was already wearing her go-to striped tee).  You can never have too many, buy in bulk!

On a whim (that was then encouraged by Whit), I decided to chop off my hair. It was all dry, damaged and generally disgusting, so I figured I would just start fresh.  It  was not exactly planned to go this short, but so far I like it.  However, I have also yet to let it air dry, so who knows what it will look like when I let my waves do their thing.

In other news, my friends are currently taking care of a little Bichon Frisee while the owners are in Korea for a month, so I get to hang out with this little ball of fluff:
