Foreo Luna 2 Professional Review

As Mal mentioned in her journey to clear(er) skin, we both suffered from acne through our college years and more.  I became very invested in trying new serums, treatments, and technology to improve my skin texture.  The Luna 2 was one of them.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, the Foreo Luna 2 is a facial cleansing and anti-aging device that promises to unclog pores of 99.5% impurities and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Read my honest review after the jump!

The Luna 2 Spa Indulgences Collection gift set comes with the items photographed above: the Luna 2 Professional, a Kate Sommerville Multi-Repair Active Triple Peptide Cream, and a Kate Sommerville ExfoliKate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash. At $249 (valued $305), this would be something I would consider buying for a close friend who loves skincare or simply feeling pampered.

How to:
I won't get into too many details about how to use the Luna 2 because it's fairly simple. The website provides really good information.  There are 2 modes.  The first is cleansing, using the pulsating bristles shown above and the second is anti-aging, using the reverse side to massage wrinkle-prone areas of your face.  The + and - buttons allow you to adjust the pulsation intensity.

My skin:
My skin has cleared up, but I have acne scars.  To improve skin texture, I've been using the Anti-Aging mode with a serum.  This supposedly allows for better absorption of skincare products.  Since scars take time to disappear and I've only used the Luna for a couple weeks, it's hard to say if there has been much improvement yet.  I'll have to report back!

My thoughts:
It's super fun to have a mini facial at home!  It was a bit awkward to use for the first time.  The silicone bristles were stiffer compared to your standard nylon brush head.  It was difficult to adjust it to the contours of my face, but I got used it.

My skin immediately felt smoother and cleaner.  I received compliments on how glowy my skin looked!  The anti-aging mode is relaxing and helps reduce under-eye puffiness.

Pros:
Skin is visibly more glowy and feels cleaner/smoother.
The silicon material is more hygienic.  No replacement brush heads needed.
It's easy to clean.
One charge lasts for about 7 months.
Has a timer.
Easy to pack on trips.  It comes with a pouch.

Cons:
It's pricey.
Anti-aging mode may not be useful depending on your age.  It's not a permanent solution for wrinkles.

Would I recommend this?
Yes, the cleansing is more effective than with hands.  I would recommend this to people prone to acne or oily skin.  This is worth a try to combat those clogged pores.  I wish I had this when I had really bad break outs.

This is just a really fun device to own in general.  I look forward to my skincare routine because of it. Just don't expect immediate dramatic results.  The skincare products you use along with it are just as important, if not more.  I do like it more than the Clarisonic because its more hygienic and the battery doesn't drain as quickly.

The Luna 2 comes in different colors and versions for different skin types.  There is also the Mini and the Play if you're not ready to commit.  I chose the Professional because it suits all skin types and features dual motors for more powerful cleaning.
